Electrical Jubilee Rome

The Virtual Walk Rome, the third project in the series of the Panoramas with 360° sound was created in occasion of the Holy Year in Rome 2025.
The metropolis prepared itself for the arrival of millions of pilgrims and tourists with the restoration of its sanctuaries and the building of new streets, stations, places, fountains etc. Rome was a construction site for a long time in order to show its new face for the opening of the sacred doors of the basilicas San Pietro, Santa Maria Maggiore, San Giovanni and San Paolo. The panoramas were made in 2024 and 2025 before and after the start of the “Anno Santo”.
The project was realized as part of the research project Electrical Jubilee, conceived and promoted by Kappabit Srl in collaboration with the LAT Laboratory for Art and Technologies at the University of Rome “Tor Vergata,” co-financed by the Center of Excellence for the Cultural Technology District of Regione Lazio (DTC Lazio).
Team: Christina Kubisch (electromagnetic recordings), Frank Paul (360° photography, video), Tom Thiel (acoustic recordings, audio editing and mastering)

Troubleshooting
If no sound is heard, it is sometimes helpful to switch to the next panorama using the arrow control at the bottom of the screen and then jump back again.
If this does not help, check the autoplay settings.
In Firefox under privacy & security / permissions / autoplay, “allow audio and video”
